Richland Springs resident Pearl Cantrell, second from far right, recently celebrated her 103rd birthday by kicking up her heels at the September First Friday Dance at the Rusk Civic Center. Ms. Cantrell and her family members, including Bill Allen of Reklaw (far right), and friends all cut a rug to the classic country band Texas Express. The next First Friday Dance will be held Friday, Oct. 7, at the Rusk Civic Center, 555 Euclid St., Rusk. Admission is $5 a person. Doors open at 6 p.m. Proceeds of the dance benefit the Friends of the Singletary Memorial Library and the Ross Activity Center. Sponsors include Senior Care of Jacksonville, the city of Rusk and JP Auto.
