Rusk Girl Scouts Erin and Margaret Beckworth pose before the birthplace of Girl Scouts USA during a recent family vacation to Georgia. The Andrew Low House was the home of Juliette Gordon Low, the Savannah native who converted her carriage house into a headquarters for Girl Scouts shortly after the organization's first American meeting in 1912. The building, now one of the most visited house museums in Georgia, was willed to the Girl Scouts of Savannah after Low's death in 1927. Mrs. Low's birthday is Oct.31. Margaret and Erin are Cadette Scouts of Rusk Troop 139.
