New computer mapping system allows 911 operators to pinpoint cell phones

Karen Gillioun of Rusk looks for addresses in a book for an outside deputy and Michael Carter of Alto checks out the 911 screen. The two dispatchers were on duty last week at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Department. The sheriff's department's small dispatch office is busy 24 hours per day. Sheriff James Campbell said, "We usually need more than two dispatchers but that is all the room we have."
