Zachary Lyn McCalister

Zachary Lyn McCalister, 51, passed away on June 6, 2026, after a courageous battle with illness.
Born on June 20, 1974, he was the third oldest of six siblings. Zachary enjoyed basketball, hunting, fishing, and became a certified scuba diver in his younger years. He also enjoyed adventurous offshore fishing trips where he would occasionally scare his cousin and friends. 
Zachary was preceded in death by his mother, Darlene Pruett of Abilene, TX. 
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Laila; his children, Alex, Emily, and Wesley; his father, Todd Pruett of Abilene, TX; his brothers Mike, Chris, and Jody McCalister of Rusk, TX; his sister, Lori Luna of Pullman, WA; his brother, Matt McCalister of Newport News, VA; his sister-in-law, Lupe Carroll of Lufkin, TX; and his brother-in-law, Hector Chapa, Jr. of Longview, TX.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 13th, at Harmony Missionary Baptist Church in Rusk, TX. Visitation will begin at 1 PM before the 2 PM service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Zachary’s memory to Hospice of East Texas and Harmony Missionary Baptist Church.
