Rusk Police Warn of Funny Money

The Rusk Police Department is warning local businesses and residents to be aware of fictitious currency that has recently been discovered in circulation within our area.
These fake bills may closely resemble legitimate U.S. currency at first glance but are not legal tender. In some cases, the bills contain markings such as "For Motion Picture Use Only," "Copy," or other indicators that identify them as novelty or prop money.
Businesses are encouraged to carefully inspect larger denomination bills and utilize counterfeit detection tools when available. Citizens should also examine cash received during transactions, private sales, or other exchanges.
If you receive suspected fictitious currency: Do not return it to the individual who passed it. Limit handling of the bill if possible. Note any description of the person involved and any vehicle information. Contact law enforcement immediately.
