The Alto Yellowjacket 7-on-7 football team stretches prior to competition in the Hitchcock state qualifiers tournament. The Jackets advanced to state competition last week in College Station. In all, 128 teams advanced to pool play, split into two divisions: Division I (Class 4A and 5A) and Division II (1A- 3A). The Jackets lost to Wellington, 41-12; Prosper, 33-6; and in the consolation bracket to Archer City, 46-24. Alto was one of eight East Texas teams to advance to state, along with Lufkin, Tyler Lee, John Tyler, Whitehouse, Canton, Jefferson, Gilmer and Carthage.
