Travis E Carlisle

Travis E Carlisle, 88 of Rusk passed away March 4, 2024 in Tyler. He was born February 8, 1936 in Pollok, TX to Hollie E Carlisle and Myrtilla Aldridge Carlisle. Travis graduated from Hudson High School in 1954. He married Doris Elaine Hudgens, June 14, 1957 in LaMarque, TX. Mr. Carlisle worked for Marathon Oil Company until his retirement in July of 1994 after 32 years of service, retiring as their Electrical and Instrument Foreman.

Mr. Carlisle is survived by his wife: Doris Carlisle of Rusk; son: Gary Carlisle of Santa Fe, TX; daughter: Sandra Melton of Rusk; grandchildren: Nick Melton and wife Stephanie of Big Sandy, TX, Elle Melton of Fairfax, VA, and Annie Melton of St. Paul, MN; cousin: Jerry Carlisle and wife Carolyn of Lufkin, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Frank Carlisle.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024 at Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, 927 Crockett Street, Rusk, TX 75785 with Bro. Lee Flowers officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024 also at the church. Burial will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024 at Narraway Cemetery in Angelina County. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Carlisle, Nick Melton, Jerry Carlisle, Jesse Bolen, David Monroe and Grant Hudgens. The family would like to say a heartfelt “Thank you” to Dr. McInnis of Jacksonville, and the neuro ICU nurses at Christus Trinity Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler. Arrangements are entrusted to Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, Rusk.
