Lawrence Hubert Holbrook

Lawrence Hubert Holbrook named after both grandfathers, was born January 1, 1945 in Nacogdoches, TX to Bannie Mae and Boots Holbrook. He was the first New Years baby of Nacogdoches in 1945.

He graduated from Cushing High School class of 1962. After graduating he became a barber and kept his license renewed for sixty years. He attended Angelina College and Tyler Jr. College and became a certified welder working for construction companies in Louisiana and Texas.

Lawrence married Nell Braswell July 19, 1969 at First United Methodist Church, Rusk, TX. He lived most of his life in Rusk, TX before moving to his farm in Lilbert, TX. The last 20 years he enjoyed his farm, outdoors, wildlife, raising ducks, and enjoyed riding his tractor. He also enjoyed planting a garden every spring. He also had a passionate love of music.

Services are under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home. A time of visitation is scheduled for March 5, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home with a graveside service at 2:00 PM at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
