Betty L Wages

Mrs. Betty L Wages, 83, of Jacksonville, previously of Maydelle, passed away February 25, 2024 in Jacksonville. She was born April 4, 1940 in Boswell, OK to Marshall and Mary Ellen Taylor. She graduated from Boswell, OK High School, Class of 1959. Betty married Winford (Nub) Wages June 5, 1959 in Hugo, OK. He preceded her in death. Betty retired from the Rusk State Hospital. She is a member of Oakland Missionary Baptist Church and loved volunteering for the Good Samaritan Food Pantry, when she wasn’t working in her garden or tending to her pigs, chickens or ducks.

Mrs. Wages is survived by her daughters: Argie Stewart and Angie Stinecipher and husband Robert; sister: Mary Cottrell and husband Gerald; sisters-in-law: Joyce Moss, Lou Little, Gayle Wages, Euvon Wages; brother-in-law: Kenneth Earls; grandchildren: Michael Mahoney and Lindsey, Amanda Sikes, Russell Stinecipher and Amanda, Rodney Stinecipher and Kesha, Tonya Stephens and David, Belinda Pennock; 23 great grandchildren; 16 great great grandchildren; Caleb Marsh; Zoe Marsh; Olivia Methany; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation for Mrs. Wages will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, March 1, 2024 at the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Maydelle, with funeral services starting at 11 with Bro. Jamie Hogan, Bro. Jerry Hanson and Tristan Mahoney officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: T.J. Adams, Jr., Aiden Sikes, Leighton Sikes, Kaden Mahoney, Tyler Stinecipher, Trevor Stinecipher, Dakota Stinecipher, and Colten Stinecipher. Arrangements are entrusted to Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, Rusk, TX.
