A funeral service for Speedy Peacock, age 74, of Jacksonville is scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday December 29, 2023, at Our Lady of Sorrow Catholic Church in Jacksonville with Father Jay officiating. He will be laid to rest at Still Waters Memorial Gardens, Jacksonville.

Visitation will begin Thursday, December 28, with family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville. The Holy Rosary recitation will begin at 7 p.m.

Speedy was born on January 15, 1949 to James Lester Peacock and Virgina Speedy Peacock Wiggins and went to be with the Lord on December 26, 2023.

Speedy was a supportive husband, father, grandfather and friend! He always went above and beyond to ensure those around him were happier than he was. He was an incredible entrepreneur and salesman that never turned away from a challenge. He may have finally conceded physically, but his spirit will live forever within all that had the privilege of knowing him and experiencing his incredible vocabulary and unique way with words! He leaves behind friends and family who are better for having known him and will miss his unforgettable presence.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rusty Peacock; and brother, Tony Peacock.

Left to cherish Speedy’s memory are his son, Eric Peacock and wife Erin of Tennessee; daughter, Kelly Peacock of Dallas; and his siblings, Hoke Peacock and wife Lou Ann of Beaumont, Joe Peacock and wife Lana of Jacksonville, Cathy Stephens of Jacksonville, Mary Guvernator and husband Eric of Marshall and Janie Peacock of Jacksonville. He is also survived by five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Nick Peacock, Ben Peacock, Blake Stephens, Clint Stephens, Joel Renaud, and Trey Simmons, with honorary pallbearers Jim Peacock, Doug Radcliffe, Russell Edwards Jose Rogel, Bobby Harris.
