Escort for fallen Shelby Co. deputy

Employees from UT Health East Texas Hospital in Rusk, along with Cherokee County Courthouse employees, including County Judge Chris Davis, pay their respects to fallen Shelby County Deputy Matt Pierson, who was escorted from Tyler to a Lufkin funeral home on Thursday morning. The procession route traveled along U.S. Highway 69, heading south, with area law enforcement conducting traffic control to ensure a smooth route, while other agents joined the procession of vehicles. Pierson, 25, of Etoile, died Aug. 29, 2023, following a wreck involving a semi on State Highway 103 at the intersection of State Highway 147.
