A loving Husband, Dad, and Pops, Danny McCaslin passed away on August 14, 2023, at the age of 67.

Danny was born on November 16, 1955, in Corsicana, Texas, to Marshel and Edna McCaslin. Danny graduated from Corsicana High School then East Texas State University at Commerce with a degree in graphic design. He worked for several printing companies prior to his employment at Texas Department of Criminal Justice until his retirement after 20 years of service. In later years, he worked for Lon Morris College as well as Rusk State Hospital, and he was a long-time member of the Masonic Lodge. Danny enjoyed working with people and remained close friends with many coworkers over the years.

Danny and Debbie met in a snowstorm in November of 1981, and were married in Corsicana, Texas, on August 7, 1982. Danny enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cooking for his family and friends. He loved family gatherings, especially at Christmas where he would pride himself on giving his sisters the best gag gifts including Styrofoam coconut cake and scratched off lottery tickets. He loved playing his guitar and fiddle and listening to bluegrass music. In later years, he loved his family’s Sunday dinners and looked forward to seeing his kids and playing with his grandkids every week.

Danny leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Debbie Pierce McCaslin, his daughter and son-in-law Launa and Michael Bacon of Palestine, his daughter and son-in-law Kaytee and Woody Hassell of Jacksonville, and his son and daughter-in-law Justin and Meridith McCaslin of Tyler, along with grandchildren: Alex Hassell, Avery Bacon, Lennon Hassell, Austyn Bacon, Quinn McCaslin, and Elias McCaslin. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law Corrine and Rick Thompson of Corsicana and sister and brother-in-law Diane and Don Foster of Arlington as well as many nieces and nephews. He is reunited with his parents, his brother James McCaslin, and his best friend Terrell Simpson.

Pallbearers will include Kenny Thompson, Jeremy Foster, Bryan Knotts, Zach Dominy, Mason Thompson, and Alex Hassell. Honorary pallbearers are Theo Simpson, Harvey Hoffman, Paul Hamilton, and Dr. James Low.

In order to honor Danny’s life, the family has planned a visitation at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville on Thursday, August 17th from 5 PM till 7 PM followed by a funeral service for 10 AM, Friday August 18th. Danny will be laid to rest at Corine Cemetery in Jacksonville.
