Katherine Lusk

Katherine Lusk, 94, of Maydelle passed away June 16, 2023 in Jacksonville. She was born August 9, 1928 at her family home in Cherokee County. She married James F. “Casey” Lusk Feb 14, 1946 in Maydelle. He preceded her in death Dec. 22, 2015. She was a lifelong resident of Maydelle, loved being in the country, raising her chickens and taking care of her family.

She is survived by her sons: Floyd Lusk and wife Martha of Cushing, Don Lusk of Maydelle; daughter: Deanna Phifer and husband Larry of Slocum; grandchildren: Rene Galan, Jimmy Wayne Lusk, Jimmy Lusk and wife Chris, Kathy Claiborne, Jennifer Petters and husband Matt, Charles Phifer, Jamie McKay, Amy Turner, Nick Lusk and wife Jennifer, J.J. Lusk, Chassidy Lusk, Josh Lusk, Kayla Wilson, Jonathon Lusk, Justin Lusk and Christina Lusk; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sister: Patsy Rowell; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

A celebration of her life was held on Monday, June 19, 2023 at Wallace Thompson Funeral Home, Rusk, TX with Bro. Wayne Thompson officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Hope Cemetery near Maydelle.
