Larry Ducote was born Dec. 27, 1941 in Port Arthur, Texas, to Louis and Clara Short Ducote. He grew up in Houston but his final school year attended and graduated from Bridge City High School in Port Arthur. He enlisted in the US Air Force and was a medic stationed at Travis Air Force Base.

At Sunday School class on Sept. 3, 1970 Larry looked across the room and saw the love of his life, Carolyn Corwin. He asked if he could sit beside her as the class celebrated her birthday, she said yes. And she said yes when he asked her to marry him on Dec. 13 and she said yes again Feb. 20, 1971 at St. Luke’s Methodist Church as they began a marriage that would last 52 years. The young couple moved briefly to Ohio but got back home to Texas as fast as they could. Carolyn taught in elementary schools and Larry worked at Bayer Chemical in Baytown. They were very active members of their church and cared for Carolyn’s parents in their declining years. Larry also became a successful realtor in his spare time.

Upon retirement they moved to Windsor Lakes in The Woodlands where they enjoyed many happy years with friends and family. Larry continued his life-long love of classic cars and model trains.

Preceding him in death were his parents; nieces Emily Chaffin and Jill Ducote; great nephew Liam Young and Carolyn’s parents Lloyd and Betty Corwin who loved Larry like a son.

Larry is survived by Carolyn; brothers John Gus Hawkins (Penny) and Warren Guy Ducote (Joann); sister Valli Lott; nieces Vicky Chaffin (Jeff); nephews Guy Ducote and Just Robinhawk; great nieces Keegan Ducote, Ashley Krobot (Josh), Jazmina Robinhawk; great nephew Cody Chaffin (Lauren) and many other family members and dear friends.

A memorial service celebrating the life of this wonderful and gentle man will be at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, June 24, 2023 at 2 p.m. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service. The funeral home is located at 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, TX 77384.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Larry’s name to the charity of your choice.
