Mollie Elizabeth Spears

Mollie Elizabeth Spears, of Rusk, passed away January 30, 2023.

She was born on September 5, 1942, to the late Adron E. and M. Elizabeth (Pryor) Trotter. Mollie was a proud graduate of Rusk High School and Stephen F. Austin State University and taught elementary school for several years in the Houston area before raising her two daughters. She dedicated her life to the Lord and her family. Mollie’s strong belief in the Lord carried her through life and she embraced each day in his presence. She enjoyed caring for others, wildlife and bird watching, reading scripture and reminiscing about the past and times gone by.

Left to cherish Mollie’s memory are her children, Mollie (Beth) Newton and Jennifer Lang and husband Dexter Gillard. Mollie is also survived by her three beautiful granddaughters Emma Ellis, Madelyn (Maddie) Ellis and Erin Lang.

A funeral service for Mollie is scheduled at 3 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2023 at Autry Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Edwards officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. She will be laid to rest at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Rusk.
