Patricia Darlene (Cotton) Walker, age 77, passed from this life to the next on January 10, 2023, in Baytown, TX. The family will host a memorial service on Saturday, May 13th with details to come.

Darlene was born on May 16, 1945, to Elmore and Cleo (Smith) Cotton of Gallatin, TX. Darlene was the youngest of three sisters. Darlene graduated from Rusk High School and attended college at Tyler Junior College and Texas Woman’s University. Darlene worked as a bookkeeper in her early career. She then returned to Tyler Junior College to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked for 30 years as a healthcare provider helping many people in nursing homes and private home healthcare.

Darlene was married to John Bailey Walker III in April 1969, with whom she became the mother of three children. Through her children she became the grandmother of 8 grandchildren and great grandmother of 12 great grandchildren. Darlene loved to travel, was a good ol’ Southern cooking foodie and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Darlene is survived by children John Walker and his wife Jennifer of Marion, IA, and Scott Walker and his wife Rachelle of Liberty, TX; grandchildren Sabrina Glasgow, Chase Walker, Tiarica Todd, Chella Santiago, Colton Walker and Carly McClain; 11 great grandchildren and many family and friends.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Jean (Cotton) Smith and Elmarie (Cotton) Stracener, daughter Tana (Walker) Gothia, grandson AJ Martinez and great grandson John Evan Walker.

Prior to her passing she was studying the Book of James in God’s Holy Word, The Bible. It is here in James 1:12 we find, “Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him.” Darlene professed that Christ Jesus is her personal Savior. As she was in rehabilitative care, she mentioned she wanted to go home and have 24/7 care. We are happy to announce that she is home with the Lord and He will provide for Darlene throughout all of eternity!
