Christmas, New Years’ closings throughout Cherokee County

Local government offices will be closed Dec. 23 and Dec. 26 in observance of the Christmas holiday, as well as Jan. 2 in observance of the New Year holiday. These include Cherokee County government offices and municipal offices in Jacksonville, New Summerfield, Alto, Cuney, Troup, Reklaw and Rusk.

The City of Wells will keep the same Christmas holiday schedule as their counterparts, but additionally will be closed Dec. 30 for the New Year holiday, officials said.

Post offices will observe a Dec. 26 Christmas holiday and a Jan. 2 New Years’ holiday, according to the USPS website.

Banking institutions are expected to be open during regular business hours
