RUSK – A 90-day burn ban was issued by Cherokee County leaders as a result of “circumstances present in all or part of the unincorporated area of the county (creating) a public safety hazard that would be exacerbated by outdoor burning,” according to the Sept. 30 order.
Violation of the order is a Class C misdemeanor, punishable by a fine not to exceed $500.
Cherokee County Commissioners met in emergency session this morning at 9 a.m. and voted to reinstate the Burn Ban for Cherokee County. This is a developing story, more details to follow.
