Born Feb. 12, 1865 in Sardis (Cherokee County), Thomas purchased 100 acres of land in 1901, worked at a saw mill and received his pay in lumber. He and Nannie Perry had 11 children. Ollie Berry was born in the home (1904) and later, his daughter, Norma Jean Berry, was also born there. This painting was done by Ollie's wife Rosa Berry and is submitted by their daughter, Norma Jean Berry. A "dog trot" consisted of two living areas under one roof separated by a hallway. The family's dogs slept in the hallway - instead of running around the house, they trotted back and forth.
