CCSO, Wells ISD partner for June 1 emergency response drill

by Staff reports

WELLS – The local school district will partner with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department for an all-day emergency response drill on June 1, according to Wells ISD Superintendent Jill Gaston.

“They will arrive about 5 a.m. (Wednesday) and be here for approximately 6-8 hours. You may see vehicles in the parking lots and response teams on our school grounds. Please do not be alarmed,” Gaston said. “This may modify some of our daily activity, but will not keep the district from ‘normal’ activities.”

While the school year concluded May 20, staff are now on a summer work schedule, with some students on site for make-up school work, according to an district employee.

Wells ISD is “excited about this partnership, and are confident that this will enhance our emergency response capabilities,” Gaston said, inviting the public to contact the district at www.wells.esc7.net or 936-867-4466 with any concerns or questions.
