Rusk officials set April 2 Spring Clean up

RUSK – An April 2 city-wide Spring Clean-up will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Saturday, with a dump location established at the City Warehouse on U.S. Highway 69 South.

City workers will monitor the site, which will be open to those residing within city limits, as well as to those who receive city water service out-side city limits.
According to city Public Works Director Neill Holcomb, the guideline for accepted items include brush and yard waste, bulky items, household items, furniture, outdoor grills, dish-washers, appliances (that do not use Freon), paper or cardboard items, lawn mowers, construction debris, wood and metal items, mattress sets and water heaters.

Items not allowed at the landfill: Liquids of any kind, whole tires (must be split or quartered), oil or oil filters, refrigerators, A/C units or any appliance containing CFC's (Freon), lead acid batteries, hazardous waste, chemicals or pesticides, paint or paint buckets (only if paint is completely dried and free of liquid), medical waste of any kind or dead animals.
All items must be manageable by two people when loading the container, he said.
