RUSK – Sheriff Brent Dickson has announced the temporary suspension of in-person visitation at the Cherokee County Jail to help protect both inmates and staff from potential COVID-19 spread.

“We’re going to shut down in-person visitation for the next 30 days, beginning now,” he said. “We are making all efforts to assure that staff and inmates are taken care of and protected the best we can from a COVID outbreak in our facilities.”

As of late Friday, no known cases of COVID or the flu have been reported at the jail, he said.

This is a developing story.
