Alto schools face redistricting in Fall 2022
Alto ISD is the sole school district in Cherokee County that has been reclassified by the University Inter-scholastic League, effective in time for the 2022-23 school year, according to school officials.
“We are moving to 2A Division 2 for the next realignment,” said AISD Athletic Director Lance Gamble, who added that more information will be released in several weeks, when the UIL unveils assignments on Feb. 3.
Alto moves into a district with teams of similar strength and power – according to media reports, this in-cludes schools in Linden-Kildare, Prince-Carlisle, Cushing, Teneha, Lovelady, Mount Enterprise, Colmesneil and Overton.
A healthy Cherokee County requires great community news.
