Rusk Council to hold Dec. 9 public hearing for District 2 zoning change

RUSK – A Dec. 9 public hearing will be held as part of a 5:30 p.m. Rusk City Council meeting on Thursday, with city leaders seeking input on a proposed rezone that addresses a growing number of requests to build smaller, more efficient homes within Rusk.

According to a meeting agenda, the rezone from R-1 (single-family detached) to R-3 (single-family attached) would impact 22 properties in District 2.

The council is expected to vote on the issue following the public hearing.

Also during Thursday’s meeting, city leaders will consider:

• Approving a consent agenda featuring a November 2021 check register report, summary R&E, October 21 credit card statement, account balances and Nov. 11, 2021 meeting minutes

• A resolution to cast a vote for the Cherokee County Appraisal District board of directors

• Authorizing the execution of tax sale redemption deed

• Approving an interlocal agreement with Cherokee County for radio repeaters

• Separate ordinances regarding rental inspection, food trucks, Civic Center rental fees and an amendment to Chapter 92 – Cemetery

• A resolution appointing a charter review committee
