Never forget

The Heritage Center of Cherokee County, Texas, at 208 S. Henderson St. in Rusk, is home to a special veterans display featuring the names, photos and dog tag replicas of military members who died in World Wars I and II, Korea and Vietnam. An album created by museum director Betty Marcontell lists more than 250 fallen heroes of Cherokee County, while the Military Hall of Honor is where the dog tags are displayed. The museum is open Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sundays from 1-5 p.m. and by special appointment. To learn more about purchasing a dog tag to honor a Cherokee County veteran, or about the museum, contact Marcontell at (903) 714-8685 or email heritagecenterofcherokeecounty@gmail.com
