Alto ISD voters approve lowered tax rate; county voters pass state propositions
CHEROKEE COUNTY – Alto ISD voters have green-lighted a proposition to lower their 2021-22 property tax rate one cent from the previous year's rate, resulting in $1.5319 rate, according to complete but unofficial results posted by the Cherokee County Election Department Tuesday night following a Nov. 2 special election.
Along with Alto's Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election – won by a 52.47 percent majority vote, according to election officials – Cherokee County voters approved all eight proposed amendments to the state constitution.
