ONCOR reports area power outages due to winds

Areas throughout Cherokee County are without power following strong wind gusts Thursday, according to ONCOR.

As of 2:15 pm Thursday, ONCOR has reported outages, with projected restoration times:

Alto, 811 affected, 4:30 pm

Cushing, 6 affected, 7 p.m.

Rusk, 2175 affected, 7 p.m.

Bullard area, 67 customers, 7 p.m.

Jacksonville, 265 customers, 12:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29

A company release notes that not only the eastern portion of the company's service area has been impacted, but also the DFW Metroplex.

"We are currently experiencing strong wind gusts moving throughout the DFW metro and Eastern portion of our service area. We are prepared to respond to any outages caused by this weather system."

"Safety for our employees and the public is our number one priority. If you see a downed power line, stay away and call 911 immediately," officials said.
