Rev. Tommy Edward Mabry

A funeral service for Reverend Tommy Edward Mabry, age 74, of Rusk is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Salem Missionary Baptist Church with Albert Munsinger officiating. Graveside services will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Mabry passed away on October 18, 2021. He was born April 1, 1947 in Kennard, TX. Tommy pastored 44 years at Salem Missionary Baptist Church and devoted his life to spreading the gospel. He enjoyed singing and playing many instruments to “make a joyful noise unto the Lord.” He also enjoyed working with his hands and building different things. He hand crafted 8 fiddles for each of his grandchildren.

Mr. Mabry is preceded in death by his mother and father, Henry and Johnnie Mae Mabry; his brother, Donald Mabry, his sister, Ima Jean Mabry and grandson, Ty Mabry.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sandra Mabry of Rusk; children, Shad and Casey Mabry of Rusk, Jill and Cole Lucien of Jacksonville, TX, Ryan and Candis Mabry of Rus; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sisters, Janice Campbell of Fairfield, TX, Bessie Fritz of Conroe, TX, Cynthie Smith of Houston, TX.

Pallbearers will include Dalton Mabry, Dyson Mabry, Dylan Mabry, Brennen Lucien, Cole Lucien, Trenton Ball, Jeremy Simpson and Brian Joyner. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Salem Missionary Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home.
