Sammie Attaway

Sammie Attaway passed away October 1, 2021 after a brief illness. She was born to the late RC and Laura Ann Waggoner of Cherokee County, Rusk, TX.

She was preceded in death by her husband Henry M. Attaway and son Harry Attaway. Sammie enjoyed spending time with her children and family, walking, going to church, eating Nutter Butter cookies, volunteering at the Good Samaritan, and she was an active member of the Cherokee Democratic party.

She is survived by five children, two sons, Craig Attaway (Bonita) and Gerald Lynn Attaway both of Jacksonville, TX; three daughters, Louann Attaway-Freeny (Herbert) of Longview, TX, Michelle Diana Attaway Jackson (Donald) of Rusk, TX, and Jacqueline Attaway Craig (James) of Mexia, TX; also by 13 grandchildren, 34 great- grandchildren and 5 great- great grandchildren.

Viewing will be held Saturday, October 9th at 11am to 12:30 pm at the Shady Grove Church of Christ located at 435 FM 2962 South, Rusk, TX 75785. Service will follow at 1p.m.. Burial will be at the Woodville Cemetery located on FM 2962 South, Rusk, TX.
