Betty J. Young

Funeral Services for Betty J. Young, 89, of Rusk, will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 4, 2021 at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Nunnally officiating. Burial will follow at Holcomb Cemetery.

Mrs. Young passed away September 30, 2021. She was born May 21, 1932 in Rusk, Texas to the late Issac and Ida McIver. She graduated high school from Dialville, TX. She was a very independent woman. She loved to garden and was proud of her flowers. She enjoyed her hummingbirds and spent much time reading and enjoyed crossword puzzles. She was an accomplished seamstress and known for her good cooking. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, and enjoyed playing Chicken Foot dominoes with her friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her son Michael W. Young, sister and brother-in-law Butch and George Robert Holcomb, and niece Rebecca Maloyed.

She is survived by son Kenneth and his wife Kellie Young of Red Oak, OK; grandchildren Tia and Clayton Powers of Greenwood, AR, Tori Young of Red Oak, OK, Taylor and Geneva Young of Ft. Smith, AR; great-grandchildren Mikaiah and Talon Robberson, Rain and Skyler Powers, Aubree Young; brothers Sam and Patty Chapman of Alto, TX; sisters Mary and Amos Dreessen of Argyle, TX, Terry Lynn Mann of Flint, TX; brother John Dean and Dianne Chapman of Rusk, TX, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation is 10:00 a.m. until service time, Monday, October 4, 2021 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Taylor Young, Clayton Powers, Neill, Brandon, and Caleb Holcomb, Chad Bonner, and Danny Rodriguez.

Honorary Pallbearers are her Sunday School class, Joy Sunday School Class.
