Berniece Magruder

Berniece Magruder, of Rusk, TX, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2021 at the age of 93. She was born in Rusk on November 30, 1927 to the late Charles Calvin Norton and Willie Ethel (Meazle) Norton.
Berniece, or “Buncy” as she was affectionately called by her family, found joy in music, cooking and visiting with friends and family who stopped by. She retired from the Cherokee County Electric Co-op after a long career.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Raymond Magruder; her parents, Charles and Ethel Norton; her brother, Charles Lee Norton; and her sisters, Doris McAnally and Marie Lloyd.
Berniece is survived by her sister, Ruby Hudson, of Rusk, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A visitation is scheduled for 1:00pm on Friday, September 24th at Wallace Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk, with graveside services to follow at 2:00pm at the Russell Cemetery.
Donations may be made to any Veteran’s organization or the Rusk Fire Department in lieu of flowers.
