Evelyn Irene Grimes Todd

A funeral service for Evelyn Todd (Granny), of Brazoria County, TX, formerly of Rusk, is scheduled at 1p.m. the 24th of July, 2021, at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Oakland Cemetery in Rusk.

Mrs. Todd passed away on July 16, 2021. She was born in Rusk, Texas on October 29, 1932, to George Washington Grimes and Rosa (Brewster) Grimes. She enjoyed hunting, camping, and anything outdoors. She loved her children and grandchildren, but had a very special type of love for her great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Elvis Donald Ballew; and four brothers, Otis, Bartee, Dewitt, and James Grimes.

Left to cherish her memories are her beloved husband, Milton Todd of Brazoria County; son, Curtis Ballew of Dallas County; a daughter, Sandra and husband Gregory Stokes of Brazoria County; a sister; Elsie Gorgan of Smith County; and a brother, R.V. Grimes of Nueces County. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Jason Ballew of Dallas County, Michaela and husband Pete Hernandez of Brazoria County; and Jeffrey Ballew (Daphanie) of Brazoria County; three great-grandchildren, Dante, Marcus, and Jaleigh Ballew; and a great-great-grandson, Elliot Music, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Pete Hernandez will serve as pallbearer with honorary pallbearers Dante and Marcus Ballew.
