FEMA offering COVID-19 funeral assistance

FEMA is offering up to $9,000 in funeral assistance to help with expenses for funeral services and burial/cremation for those whose deaths may have been caused by or were the result of COVID-19.

Below is a guideline from the FEMA website that entails who qualifies and how to apply for assistance, which began April 12. There is no deadline to apply.

Those eligible to apply are U.S. citizens, non-citizen national, or qualified alien who paid for funeral expenses after January 20, 2020; and

The funeral expenses were for an individual whose death in the United States, territories or the District of Columbia, may have been caused by or was likely the result of COVID-19.

To apply, visit www.fema.gov, or call 844-684-6333 or TTY 800-462-7585, between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday. Multilingual services will be available.

No online applications will be accepted.
