A Memorial Service for David L Scott Sr., 80, of Rusk, will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 26, 2021, at the First Congregational Methodist Church in Rusk with Rev. Robert Newton officiating.

David Lester Scott was born May 25th, 1940, to Cecil & Maurine Scott in Jacksonville, Texas. He left this earth on March 15th, 2021.

David served in the United States Army and fought in Vietnam. Coming home from the war, he worked 34 years at Kelly Springfield Tire and Rubber Company in Department 430 with the Local 746 of the United Steel Workers Association.

David loved hunting and fishing as well as gardening. He enjoyed riding around in his buggy on his land here in Rusk, Texas. He loved feeding his catfish which he named ‘Charlie’ and showing the grandkids ‘Charlie’ anytime they came down to visit. If you knew David you knew he could be quite the stubborn man, maybe a little ornery, too. However, he was a loving father and an honorable husband.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil & Maurine Scott and also, his wife of 50 years Edythe Scott.

He is survived by his 3 sons, David Scott Jr. of Orange Texas, Daniel & Misty Scott of Moore, Oklahoma, and Timothy & Devon Scott of Edmond, Oklahoma.

David had 8 grandchildren: Candace, Destiny, Dylan, Seth, Abigail, Kaden, Austin, and Sarah; and 1 great grandchild Ryder Scott.
