Troup ISD trustees to discuss TEA waiver for emergency closing during snow event

TROUP – Local school board trustees will consider approval of waiver for submission to the Texas Education Agency for emergency closing/bad weather days during a 6 p.m. meeting Tuesday, March 16. Om the district boardroom, 201 N. Carolina St. in Troup.

The item pertains to recent severe winter weather conditions that left the state blanketed in snow the better part of a week in mid-February.

A separate, but related item to be considered by the board is a resolution regarding wage payments during emergency school closings, according to a meeting agenda.

During the meeting Troup ISD trustees also will:

• Host a public forum on the 2019-20 Texas Academic Performance Report

• Consider approval of Superintendent Tammy Jones as representative to the Region 7 ESC Regional Advisory Committee for 2021-22

• Consider a resolution authorizing trustees to accept bid for sale of struck-off property Cause No. 25,805-C

• Consider approval of revised 2021-22 school calendar

• Consider adoption of consent agenda that includes minutes from a Feb. 8 regular meeting, revenue information, expenditures and – if necessary – budget and purchase orders greater than $50,000.

The board also will convene into executive session to discuss new hires and personnel matters; action, if any, will be taken when it reconvenes into open session, as per state Government Code.
