TJC professors to host virtual biology department showcase on Feb. 25

by TJC

Tyler Junior College biology professors will offer a free online event this week, for prospective TJC students as well as current students who are interested in majoring in biology or entering a health profession.

The TJC Biology Showcase will be held 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, via the Zoom video-conferencing platform.

Participants will be able to speak with professors Larry Pilgrim and Danielle Pritchard and lab specialist and former student Ben Jordan. They will also be able to ask questions about advising for health professions programs and speak to a former student who has successfully completed the TJC biology program.

Biology is the first choice for students interested in a career in medicine, dentistry, occupational or physical therapy, optometry, pharmacy, physician assistant or veterinary medicine.

An Associate of Science degree in biology prepares students to enter one of TJC’s health sciences programs or transfer to a four-year university to continue their studies.

The event is free, but online registration is required.

To register, go to TJC.edu/events, click on the Feb. 25 Biology Showcase entry and then “Zoom Registration Instructions.”
