Area churches are invited to publish their announcements for upcoming events each week in The Cherokeean Herald. Information must be submitted by noon Friday for our Wednesday edition. First United Methodist church in Rusk wishes to thank everyone who gave for Souper Bowl Sunday! We had a few cans come in after service so we ended up collecting over 200 cans of soup for Good Samaritan!

The congregation at Maydelle Assembly of God is pleased to announce that the church continues to host Sunday morning services in compliance with CDC guidelines. All are invited to participate in Sunday School, beginning at 10 a.m., with morning worship at 11 a.m. The church is located at 316 U.S. Highway 84 West in Maydelle.

First United Methodist Church, Rusk is holding Sunday school and church services and even some meetings using the CDC recommendations. We invite you to join us Sunday mornings to worship with us. Our on-line calendar is temporarily disabled due to COVID-19 and uncertain times. We will try to post meetings and/or changes as they become available. FEB. 13-14

Bro. Loren Larson of Jimmy Swaggart Ministries in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, will be ministering at Christ Community Church in Palestine, 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, and 10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 14. Bethlehem Lutheran Church, across from Palestine High School at 1515 South Loop 256, celebrates Transfiguration Sunday on Feb. 14. Divine Service of Holy Communion will begin at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Bethlehem also has past services posted on our YouTube channel. FEB. 17

Trinity Episcopal Church of Jacksonville will host Ash Wednesday services at noon and at 5 p.m., Feb. 17. The Very Reverend M.L. Agnew Jr. will be celebrant at the services. Trinity Episcopal Church is located at 1000 S. Jackson St., with parking at the rear of the church. COVID restrictions will be observed.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church, across from Palestine High School at 1515 South Loop 256, will begin the observance of Lent with a 7 p.m. service, Wednesday, Feb. 17, with imposition of ashes and Holy Communion.
