Herdis J. Bice

Alto – Graveside funeral services for Herdis J. Bice, 93, of Alto will be Sunday, Jan. 31, at 2 p.m. at the Lynches Chapel Cemetery near Alto with Brent Lawrence officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, January 30, at the Funeral Home in Alto from 6-8 p.m. Mr. Bice passed away Sunday, Jan. 24, in Lufkin. He was born September 7, 1927 in Alto, Texas to Gilbert Byrd Bice and Selina Schochler Bice. Mr. Bice had lived in Alto for many years and had attended Alto Missionary Baptist Church. He had worked at Rusk State Hospital in the Boiler Maintenance department. He was a 32nd Degree Mason of over 50 years and also member of the Shriners Sharon Temple and the Eastern Star. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Evelyn Bice; brothers Herman Bice and Arlie Roy Bice Sr.; sisters Lurah Smith, Allindra Heflen, Julia Olvie White and Ali Faye Lane. Mr. Bice is survived by daughters Sharon Carter and husband Mike of Alto, Sue Cathey of Lake Charles; daughter-in-law Kathy Sue Lewis and husband Jerry of Atoy; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.
