UPDATE: Schools call snow day in Cherokee County

Jacksonville, Rusk, New Summerfield, Wells and Troup school officials have announced Monday as a rare snow a snow day for their districts, as have those at the Methodist Readiness School in Jacksonville.
"We are blessed with snow in our area only a few times in a lifetime," Wells officials stated in a social media post "Wells ISD will be taking a snow day tomorrow! We hope this day can bring snow play memories for you and your children ... stay warm, stay safe and PLAY IN THE SNOW!"

Jacksonville ISD will close its campuses Monday due to weather, according to information released from district officials Sunday afternoon, while Alto ISD has posted a 10 a.m. start Monday.
Buses will run two hours later than their normal pickup time, and Alto school staff needs to report by 9:15 a.m., according to a social media post.
Districts in Troup, New Summerfield, Rusk and Wells are monitoring the situation, according to their social media sites.
