Alto ISD shifts to remote learning for week of Dec. 14

by Staff reports

ALTO – Local school officials have announced that classes will go to Remote Learning the week of Dec. 14.

According to a statement posted on an Alto ISD social media site, “Due to a rapid increase in the number of quarantined students and staff members, Alto ISD will move to Remote Learning starting Monday, Dec. 14 continuing through Dec. 18.”

A letter is being sent home with all students today with more details, the site noted.

“Although the Cherokee County Department of Health feels that it is safe to continue on-campus learning, the district has made this decision out of an abundance of caution. We regret the short notice and inconvenience to families, but we feel strongly that this is the best course of action for the health and safety of our students, staff and community,” officials said.

The district is scheduled off for the holidays from Dec. 21 to Jan. 4, returning to campus on Tuesday, Jan. 5.
