A funeral service for Jack Jeter is scheduled at 2 p.m. Monday, November 30, 2020 at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Chris Cannon and Jon Gardner will officiate. Jack will be laid to rest at Jarratt Cemetery.

Neil Winston “Jack” Jeter was born to Riley and Annie (Harwell) Jeter April 27, 1930 in Haskell County. Jack graduated from Rule High School, where he enjoyed football and basketball. He received his BS from Wayland Baptist College, his Bachelor of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Masters of Education from the University of Texas at Tyler. He married Frances Rowell, whom he met at Wayland, July 14, 1950.

Left to cherish Jack’s memory are his wife, Frances Jeter of Rusk; his children Jan Jeter of Chattanooga, TN, Joan Robbins and husband Gary of Rusk, Neil Jeter and wife Trudi of Troy and Janelle Gardner and husband Jon of Franklin. Jack loved being PawPaw to both his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Stephanie Cannon (Chris) and their sons Caleb, Daniel and Nathan; Stephen Jeter (KaRonna) and their son Jethro; David Robbins (Elissa) and their daughters Emery and Avery, Rebecca Evans (Joseph) and Langston Gardner.

Jack was the remaining one of his immediate family. Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister and three brothers.

While a teenager, Jack was saved at First Baptist Church, Rule and was licensed to preach. When he was twenty, he was ordained by his first pastorate, Fairview Baptist Church, near Happy, Texas on September 10, 1950. During his 65 years of ministry, he was an evangelist and pastor for numerous churches, including First Baptist Church, Bovina; First Baptist Church, Clarksville, Calvary Baptist Church, Harlingen, First Baptist Church, Ponta, Memorial Baptist and Union Grove Baptist of Navasota. Bro. Jack loved the Lord, his family and every church where he served.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Jeter, David Robbins, Langston Gardner, Chris Cannon, Joseph Evans and Jon Gardner.
