Eva Jean Holcomb Arnold

Eva Jean Holcomb Arnold, 84, a resident of Sodalis assisted living facility in Garden Ridge, TX, passed away at home on Thursday, November 12, 2020. She was born in Winnie, TX, on November 8, 1936. After moving to Baytown, she met and married James B. “Jim” Arnold in 1954, and they remained long-time residents while raising their family. She earned her Masters Degree in Education at Stephen F. Austin in 1970 and had a long career as a second grade teacher at San Jacinto Elementary in Deer Park, TX. After retiring in 1987, she and Jim moved to Jacksonville where they attended St. John’s UMC and were long-time members of the Jacks and Jills square dancing group. She was well known as a very gifted painter and crafter, most often repurposing and recycling found and worn out items in clever and amusing ways.

Eva Arnold was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Arnold; her parents, Henry Lee and Hazel Holcomb; brothers Charles R. Holcomb and Henry Lee “Hank” Holcomb, Jr. She is survived by her sister, Karen Holcomb and her husband, Bob Nagy; her children Mary Kathleen McGrew and her husband, Bennie McGrew, and William Gipson Arnold. Her grandchildren, Justin R. Waller and wife, Lisa; Patrick D. McGrew and wife, Kimberly; Courtney F. McGrew-Estrada and her husband, Javier. Her great grandchildren, Meghann Waller, Robert Waller, Hannah Waller, Brenden McGrew, Tony McGrew, Leilani McGrew, Benjamin Estrada and Jonah Estrada.
