New officers to be sworn in during Oct. 8 Rusk council meeting

RUSK – The city's newest police officers will be sworn in during a 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, Rusk City Council meeting at the Rusk Civic Center, 555 Euclid St.
According to an agenda, the local police department also will receive a donation from Republic Waste Systems during the meeting.
Rusk city leaders also will consider:
• Approval of a consent agenda that includes a September 2020 check register report, credit card statements for August 2020, and minutes from the Sept. 3, Sept. 10, Sept. 17 and Sept. 24 council meetings;
• A proposed contract between the city and Rusk Rural Water Supply Corporation;
• A resolution supporting passage of state legislation that allows allow for the expenditure of Municipal Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) revenue for construction of improvements to municipal parks;
• An ordinance amending a city ordinance to clarify and amend procedure for the conducting of council meetings as it pertains to the public addressing the city council; and
• An ordinance amending an ordinance regarding the discharge of specific weapons.
