BREAKING: Wells ISD suspends remote learning; all students report for on-campus learning Oct. 12

WELLS – District officials from Wells ISD announced Tuesday that a remote asynchronous learning plan established in response to a national coronavirus pandemic has been completely suspended, with all students required to return to campus Oct. 12.

“Next week will be the beginning of week 10 for the 2020-21 school year.,” said Wells ISD Superintendent Jill Gaston. “We utilized the first six weeks as a transition time for students to return to campus by choice over time, and the last three weeks we have had about 33 students who have remained remote learners.”

Gaston noted that “overwhelmingly, the remote learners have been out of compliance with our Asynchronous Learning plans (and) it has become very apparent that students get the most educational benefit from on campus learning.”

She added that the district is requiring students who are out of compliance with the Remote Asynchronous Learning Plan to return to campus on Oct. 12

A copy of letter was sent to WISD families explaining the dissolution of the plan.
