Mary Ann Beard Wheeler was born on March 22, 1935, in Mount Calm, Texas, to Olaf and Oletta Cline Beard. Her father died before she was born. She was lovingly raised and cared for by her aunt and uncle, Claude and Lillie Belle Chisum. She met her husband, Eddie Glynn Wheeler, on the square in Rusk, Texas. They eloped on July 9, 1955, followed by a formal ceremony with loved ones held on Sept. 10, 1955. They recently moved to Sulphur Springs to be close to family. Over the years she performed many jobs, including typist, secretary for a U.S. Marshall, the Dallas Apparel Mart, an architecture company, manager at the hospital in Rusk, and Porter Pharmacy in Jacksonville. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family. Mary’s greatest joy and true calling in life was being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She thought each generation kept getting sweeter. Mary enjoyed many reunions at the lake, family vacations, summers with sleepovers, shopping and holidays with family while preparing whatever meals they most enjoyed. She was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Texas.
