Nita Pryor Dover

Funeral services for Nita Pryor Dover, age 79, of Rusk are scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2020, at the Rusk Church of Christ with Robby Arrington and the Rev. Don Copeland officiating. Burial will follow at Lowes Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home-Rusk. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2020, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Dover passed away on Monday, Aug. 3, 2020, in Tyler, Texas. She was born Sept. 2, 1940, in Maydelle, Texas, to the late Floyd and Ivy Thomas Pryor. She was a resident of Rusk most of her life and graduated from Rusk High School in 1958. Mrs. Dover was a manager at Brookshire Brother's Petro for 17 years in Rusk; you probably bought gas from her. She attended the Rusk Church of Christ. Mrs. Dover was the Rusk Quarterback Club's first woman president and continued her enthusiastic support of her beloved Rusk Eagles. She could also be seen frequenting the games, where her son and grandchildren coached and played.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Dover; son, Daryl Dover; eight sisters; one brother; two great-granddaughters; and two great-grandsons. She is survived by daughter, Davita Parsons of Rusk; sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Kenanne Dover of Nacogdoches and Dawain and Roseanne Dover of Edgewood, Texas; sister-in-law, Nora Pryor of Jacksonville, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will include Dustin Dover, Dalton Dover, Dakota Dover, Kenley Dover, K.C. Gamboa and Oz Gonzalez. An honorary pallbearer will be Angel Gamboa.
