Rebecca (Hartzell) Staley-Hughes, born June 5, 1956, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2020. Born in Fort Worth the oldest of three, Rebecca spent her childhood traveling the world, thanks to her father’s career in the U.S. Air Force. Rebecca cherished her time with family, and loved gardening, animals, and nature and especially Oregon, which captured her heart. She moved back to Texas in 1998 to be close to her mother. Rebecca leaves behind two brothers, David and Mike Hartzell; the love of her life and best friend, Dennis Hughes; her three sons, Cameron (Amy) Staley, Micah Staley, and Aaron (Rachel) Mann; three grandchildren, Madison, Korah, and Zeb; and her German Shepherd and constant companion Sage, all of whom will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her father, Dale Hartzell; and her mother, Carolyn Boyd.

Her funeral will be held 2 p.m., Friday, July 24, 2020, at the Wallace Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk, Texas. There will be no viewing or graveside services. Donations in memoriam may be made to the American Cancer Society.
