Mobile COVID-19 testing coming to Alto

A second mobile Coronavirus (COVID-19) screening and test collection event is coming to Alto.

The Cherokee County Emergency Management Office and the Cherokee County Public Health Department are collaborating and will hold the event 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, May 11, at The River Church, 595 Marcus St. (U.S. 69), in Alto. Registration opens May 10. Register by visiting txcovidtest.org or call (512-883-2400 today as tests will be conducted via appointment only.

Participants will be screened for COVID-19 if they are experiencing fever/chills; cough; fatigue; body aches/muscle or joint pain; shortness of breath; sore throat; headaches; nausea/vomiting/diarrhea; nasal congestion; and loss of taste/smell. The public must call and register where they will answer specific questions regarding their symptoms or exposure to COVID-19. First responders, EMS and medical personnel are able to schedule a test - regardless of symptoms. They will just need to advise the call taker.

Cherokee County city and county officials have been working in coordination with the Department of State Health Services (DSHS), Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM), Texas Military Department (TMD), Regional Advisory Council (RAC), and the Texas Emergency Management Task Force (EMTF).
