Leon Compton

Memorial services for Leon Compton, 85, of Irving and formerly of Alto are pending. Mr. Compton died Monday, April 13, 2020, in Tyler, Texas. He was born Sept. 3, 1934, in Weches, Texas to Lee Thadeus Compton and Monnie Boykin Compton. He grew up in East Texas and attended Glover School near Weches where he and his twin brother starred on the basketball team. He lived most of his life in Irving, Texas, and worked for 41 years as a credit manager for Coca-Cola. He was Baptist and had last attended Crestview Baptist in Irving.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Cleon and brothers, James Lee, Thomas Mack, Acey and Joe; sisters, Hazel Saxton and Myrtle Peacock; and grandson, Joshua Ausmus.

He is survived by daughters, Tammy Compton Carraway (Kaiser) of Alto and Jennifer Kristi Cabello (Jerry) of Alto; stepson, Dean Crosby II (Isabella) of Ennis; as well as grandchildren, Derek Carraway, Whitney Ness, Westen Cabello, Brittany Menchaca and Mia Crosby; and great grandchildren, Joshua Byrd and Logan Menchaca.
