Alto ISD superintendent releases statement

March 20, 2020

March 19, 2020

Over the past few weeks, Alto ISO has been actively monitoring the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic and has remained In contact with health officials who have been offering recommendations and guidance. The safety of our students, staff, and families is our top priority. The CDC has already recommended social distancing protocols and is now asking the public to comply with directives of limiting social gatherings to 10 people or less and implement multi-week closures to mitigate the spread of the virus. With these priorities in mind, Alto ISD will be suspending normal school operations for at least the next two weeks to be in compliance with the governor’s recent mandates. All campus events, field or student trips, and UIL practices and competitions will be postponed as well. We will constantly evaluate the situation and keep our community informed. Alternative options for continued learning and instruction are being planned and will be communicated out in the near future.

We ask our community to continue to follow the guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regarding safely practices to inhibit the spread of COVID-19. Should you have any questions or concerns related to this matter, please feel free to email any district administrator.

We acknowledge this unexpected suspension of operations creates a hardship for our parents and staff because of work, childcare, and other considerations. Please know that our efforts in coming to this decision have been made with the best interests of everyone involved. The district also knows and understands that many students rely on our schools for meals and support. To that end, plans have been made to assist families with grab-and-go meals. To arrange meals for the upcoming week, please call (936) 858-7126 between 5-7 p.m. on Sunday or 8-9 a.m. on Monday. Let us know how many children under age 18 you will need breakfasts and lunches for in your home. We will have pick up on Monday between 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the week. Information about these items will be updated on the district website, www.allo.esc7.net, as well as on our district Facebook account as well.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support as we work together to protect the health and safety of our students, staff, and community.
